    Have Questions?

    We Have Answers!
  • Is There Anything I can Do to Extend the Lifetime of My Roof?
Even the highest quality roofing materials will eventually deteriorate and erode. However, there are ways to get the most out of your roof. A small problem can become a major issue if not addressed quickly. Periodic visual self-inspections, attic checks and annual professional roof inspections are invaluable because they allow you to make minor repairs before they become larger projects, and before a small leak becomes a major leak or mold issue.
  • How Do I Know If I Need a New Roof or Just Roof Repairs?

It depends on the damages to your roof. Extensive damaged, loose or missing shingles, rotting roof sheathing, water stains on interior walls and ceilings or large roof leaks may indicate a roof replacement is needed. For smaller damages, such as one or two missing shingles or a leak coming in from the chimney, a repair may work just fine. If you are unsure, Apex Roofing can inspect your roof and help you decide whether repairs or a replacement is the best solution.

  • How Long Will My Installation Take?

Once our crew starts tearing off your old roof, the roof replacement will typically take 2-4 days. However, unforeseen circumstances can affect the length of time the installation takes. Hidden additional layers or bad sheathing discovered during tear-off will the time it takes to complete your roof. Bad weather can also add delays. Regardless, our crew will work quickly and skillfully to get your new roof installed as soon as possible.

  • How Long Will My New Roof Last?

Even the best quality roofing system has an expiration date. The lifetime of a roof depends on a variety of factors such as the quality and type of materials used, the location and tree cover of your home, and how well the roof was originally installed. Environmental conditions will also affect the lifetime of your roof; direct sunlight, bad weather and strong winds are all rough on roofs. The better the installation and materials, the longer your investment will last.

If a residential roof is over 15 years old, we recommend you call us out for a look. Sometimes damage isn’t visible to the untrained eye, and catching it early can avoid expensive repairs in the future.

Climate Considerations in Roofing Services

Understanding the unique climate of the Pacific Northwest and the surrounding areas is key to protecting your property’s exterior. All of these factors can affect the performance of your roofing, gutters, and siding.

Heavy Rainfall and Moisture

Our area gets more than its share of rain. Excess moisture can lead to leaks, water intrusion, and damage to underlying structures if not properly managed. Choosing materials and installation methods designed to handle prolonged wet conditions helps you maintain protection and reduce maintenance concerns.

Snow and Ice

Winter storms bring snow accumulation and ice formation, which can put stress on roofs and gutters. Ice dams can create blockages, causing water to back up and potentially seep into your roofing and siding. Properly installed systems with appropriate slope, insulation, and drainage help mitigate these seasonal risks.

Wind and Storm Exposure

Strong winds, especially during seasonal storms, can damage your shingles, loosen your gutters, or dislodge your siding. Selecting materials with resilience to wind and storm activity, and addressing attachment and installation techniques, helps minimize the impact of high winds on your property.

UV Exposure and Temperature Fluctuations

Although our region is known for cloudy weather, periods of direct sunlight combined with temperature swings can affect your roofing materials and siding. UV rays can degrade shingles and siding finishes, while temperature fluctuations can cause expansion and contraction, potentially stressing your seams and fasteners. Choosing materials designed for these conditions helps maintain appearance and performance.
